Everything Easter Egger

Hi everyone! I've got 5 Easter Eggers. They are 12 weeks old now. Can't wait to see what my egg basket will look like! That is Rose on my shoulder. Dorothy is the rust/golden color. Sophia with the black beard. Blanche in reddish-brown. And Elaine, looking like an eagle with her white head.

Simply gorgeous!! Don't have to answer but by chance did you get these as chicks from Hoovers? Got mine there and can't believe how much alike they look!! Don't you just love the ones with humongous heads 🤭!!

Sorry forgot to mention these I posted are mainly my roos as going to be selling or butchering all but 2 of the roos.

Finally got to add some EE's to my flock! They've been on my list for a while.

We picked up three "Ameraucana" EE (I think they're from Dunlap Hatchery) from the feed store to be raised by our broody mama GLW along with her two "homemade" barnyard mix chicks.

We've got brown egg laying barnyard mixes, Wyandottes and Wellsummers, it will be a nice treat to get some more colorful eggs from our laying hens. I also adore their fluffy cheeks and wide assortment of color patterns.

I understand that with all the mixed genetics, their temperaments can vary by a lot. I do want to ask, does anyone have any EEs that reliably go broody?

I have 10 EE and none of them have ever been broody. 6 of them are only a year old and the other 4 are 4 years old. Maybe other people have different experiences than me though

Thanks. I know that they can be really variable but it's still good to hear the experience of others so I know what I might expect.
Maybe if I do get an EE with reliable broody tendencies I can hatch some of her eggs to try and select for that trait 🤔

OK fellow Easter Eggers. I've got two young pullets, hatched March 11th, both started to do the squat a week ago. One's comb is definitely plumped up and red. The other not so much. Any estimates on when I can expect that first egg? Any time averages?

I'm very excited and anxious to get that first egg and then of course, see what colors!

I’d like to add to this thread. I love Easter eggers. They were the first birds my husband and I bought when we got married!
Since then, I’ve gotten some game hens, and one of them hatched out this little guy. He is an Easter Egger mix (based on the beard and green legs), but I’ve never seen this coloration before. Isn’t he neat?
