Hi all!
I’m back with another case of EYP/Salp.
1/4 of my Lav Orps has already passed from it. It’s heartbreaking. I’d rather they never lay another egg if it keeps them safe.
Anyway. Janice was dealing with this last fall. I was treating with Baytril and was saying my goodbyes. Her abdomen was HUGE. Labored breathing. Yellow/green poop. Whole nine. Over winter I felt her abdomen one day - COMPLETELY EMPTY. I was gonsmacked. “Where did the infection or fluids go?! Did I cure her?! It’s a miracle!”
Fast forward to 3 days ago. I notice her abdomen looking larger. Felt her and it is hard again and she is having the green/yellow poops. She’s eating and drinking, but definitely not herself.
I’m thinking with winter and the reduced hormones to lay, maybe they helped keep things in check, but now with spring it’s flaring?
Anyone dealt with this before? Do I go back to Baytril? Or just let her live her best chicken life in peace? If I do nothing, I don’t see her making it through the summer to the fall when they slow down, and I won’t let her suffer.
Thank you!
