Quintessential New England. Barack our Narragansett tom displaying in the fall leaves. All of our turkeys are names after presidents and their spouses, as we feel that Ben Franklin had it right. These gentle giants should have been our national symbol. They are a noble bird that watch over our flock… when they aren’t too busy doing a fancy dance or begging for treats.

This Halloween my daughter got to dress up for school as her favorite character from a book. She chose to be Laura Ingalls from her beloved “Little House” books. Our dear Orpington/Delaware cross, Jolene, gladly joined in on the fun. As my daughter likes to say, “If you can be a Nellie or be a Laura, always be a Laura.”

The dark comb and blue earlobe.. what a gorgeous combo! I’m getting jealous of everyone’s birds today lol
Thank you!! She’s not my only one thankfully! She’s a random snag in a trade I got who looks nearly identical to a pullet I hatched out this spring!! I’m so excited for my little group of Mosaics I have right now :love
What a great photo -that is super sweet little hen ! I have a duck named acorn lol she’s sweet too
Thank you!! She’s hard to get photos of though, she’s very flighty and won’t let me get the camera close enough for a good close up lol anything named Acorn is a sweetheart :love
