Chirping
Hi all! New chicken keeper here! Wasn't sure where to put this thread, hopefully this is ok. I've done some googling but haven't been able to find my hen's particular presentation of this, so thought I'd ask you all.
My ~17 week old pullet, a Black Copper Marans hybrid (I think crossed with Cream Legbar), is growing feathers on one of her toes. Just 2 or 3 tiny feathers popping out of the top of her rightmost toe of her right foot (see photo - tiny black and white feathers are circled in yellow). They're not growing anywhere else. I noticed the shafts growing a couple weeks back, and now they are feathering out a bit. She doesn't seem to be paying much attention to it, no picking or limping or anything.
I have a flock of 5, 2 of whom are her siblings, and no one else has these weird toe feathers happening. I'm assuming that this is nothing to worry about unless she starts showing signs of pain/discomfort. I'm just soo curious as to whether anyone else has seen this in their hens, maybe it's a breed thing?! If anyone has any advice let me know!
