Hi,

Please help, broody has hatched 2 chicks on Thursday, seems to be realy good mum, but i am worried i am not giving her enough food. I have only put in chick crumb, can i put in mixed corn, and will it hurt the chicks if they feed on it?, or is there something more i can give her?

The chick food is fine, by adding the corn to it you are bringing down the potien count in her diet and she needs all she can get after being broody, to get back in shape. If you are worried about her, I would give her some scrambled eggs with a little yogurt mixed in, the chicks would like it and do well with it as well.

Chick starter, mash, or grower food is ideal and mom will eat it also which is fine as she will need the extra protein after being broody for 21 days. If they are getting anything else they need chick grit to break it down. I give mine sunflower hearts, fruit, veggies, bread etc. I also give them some fine grit and they free range with mom. Hope this helps
