Finally got our Omlet door on our Nestra coop

I know it destroys the 25-year warranty, but they should be offering a similar option.

Any tips and advice you’d be willing to share?

They do on their brand new model that isn't in the US yet. When I reached out to them about when that was coming I was told TBD. I didnt want to wait for that one when I was trying to decide between Nestera and Omlet. Of course now that I've bought the Nestera I'm seeing tons of used Omlets for sale. At the time the Nestera was the best bang in terms of size for the buck of new prefab chicken coops. My biggest complaint is the door, and I also wouldn't recommend it for anybody who needs to keep it in direct sunlight.

The sunlight issue has been my biggest problem. Early-mid spring sunshine on clear days slants in, because the sun is still so low, and the walls heat up something fierce. Latitudes in the US are much lower than those in the UK, and the solar gain is very different.

We're using a tarp that hangs down the side to help, but on days without any predicted rain, I also take off the back in the morning and let the mountain breezes blow through during the day.

(They make pointed comments at me on evenings like tonight when I forgot to put the back on earlier, and they are firmly requesting that I stop doing that.)

We have a large tarp over the top of our run. We are planning to upgrade the roof to either polyurethane or metal before winter due to snow load. We may end up doing it sooner rather than later because the tarp on the roof also doesn't help with heat retention. They do get some breeze because the sides are open, but they also tend to like to spend a good portion if their day in the coop. Of course that will likely change once they are big enough/old enough to free range regularly.

Same here. And at almost 15 weeks, they’re doing some “yard-ranging”, but after an hour or two, they’re going back to the run and often into the coop itself.

I don’t know what they do in there, unless they’re sheltering from the breeze. Plotting, probably.
