Hello! If anyone was following from my shipped eggs post I figured it would be easier to put everything in a Hatch-A-Long to keep updating as kinda a journal!

I'll go copy/paste my couple updates from the shipped eggs post below and can't wait to continue watching these eggs develop!

Eggs were set on November 3rd and due to hatch Novemeber 25th (Thanksgiving!).

November 3rd-
I ordered online from a semi local breeder. I like to keep money in small businesses. Anyways, they're brahma and silkies. They traveled within my state for 2 days and when they arrived tonight I already assumed the worst but was not as heart broken as I worried.

There were 13 eggs, I paid for 10 and she tossed in a couple extra silkies. Thankfully with the extra we are only down one from what we hoped. But I think they're mostly silkies now since 4 brahma eggs broke. They'll set upright in egg cartons for the night.

November 4th -

Used my incubator candler to check the air cells and look for broken yolks. I think they're pretty good. The air cells mostly stay in one space, some jiggle a bit but don't leave their place as I tilt the eggs. I see good solid air sacs on quite a few exception being Brahma D where the cell seems detached.

Day 1 pictures below.

November 6th

Day 3! I see development and with a keen eye can see some little veins forming, especially on silkie A, B, and E. The other silkies I'm thinking might not be developing but it's still very early so not losing hope yet...

The Brahma eggs, however, I see nothing changing. I'm sure it's just the density of the shell and color difference from the silkies. But Brahma D has the detached air cells and I'm not sure that one will make it. 🤔

November 7th!

Day 4 candeling!

We have beating hearts tonight in Silkie A, B, and maybe D. And I have never been more happy to admit I was wrong because we have a beating heart in Brahma A and major vascular development in Brahma B and C!

Brahma D is for sure a loss, blood ring has formed and absolutely no progress in 4 days. And still watching silkie C as it is hard to see any change today. Might just be a lazy chick or the shell angle makes it hard... its also the smallest egg.

Fun I just got shipped eggs from Alabama today. They are blue-er/green than the pic looks. Bottom row is blue eggs but one white egg left middle row corner, and 4 tans.

I am adding these below plus maybe a couple more tomorrow from my hens... when everyone goes in incubator.

Ah so exciting!! My father in law is already looking at some Rhode island reds he wants me to incubate for him soon as they hatch. It's so amazing to see from start to finish!
