Took my ducklings and chicks outside for the first time. It was about 70 degrees and beautiful. They loved running around in their yard, though they were a bit apprehensive at first. I've been keeping the ducklings and chicks in separate brooders in the house, but i did have them housed together at first. The ducks were so happy to see the chicks and ran right to them.

It was really funny watching the ducks try to run around in the yard. They kept tripping over their own feet.

After looking around at other people's coop/run designs I've decided to alter mine a bit. I'll be framing the wire with wood to make it more sturdy. I've been getting some really awesome ideas on here.

Such sweet pics, envy your nice sunny warm weather.

We're loving this weather. If it keeps up i may be moving the babies outside sooner than i thought. Which would be awesome. But only if they are ready. I really have to finish up my coop/run.

This is the gate i built today. The rest of the run will be the same design.

There is wildlife netting on the top of the pen, and soon there will be some shade bushes in there.

Good for you the safer you can make it the safer your flock will be. and for letting them be outside at night, unless they are completely feathered I wouldn't do it, unless you can use somekind of heat where your going to have them.

Oh, if i do decide to put them out there at night I'll be putting their heat lamps out there with them. I don't want any cold babies. But i still have a lot of work to do before the shed becomes the perfect coop.

Be sure to post pics, it's always inspiring to others what kind of housing folks build for their flock.

I've definitely been inspired just reading a few posts on here. I'm so excited to show off the finished product (when it is done).
