Goldie missing, I counted 40, should be 41. I knew immediately it was Goldie, I only had the other 2 buff Orps in the hen house.

I looked high and low in the barn everywhere, in the stalls, on the stall walls, behind the lumber. Everywhere she just wasn’t there.

Found

As a last thought I went to check outside on Mount Poopmore.

And there she was snuggled into a hole in the manure, I was totally freaked out. I always do a walk about on the manure pile to make sure no stragglers are out there. Thank goodness I do a head count at night. But I need to make sure they are all contained - there are just too many to worry over. I need to get the Rooster Run finished, get it so the escape artists can’t fly out. Keep everyone contained. And safe.

These chickens are more worry then the horses!

Good evening everyone. I was getting ready to head to bed when CeeCee snapped up from a dead sleep and ran to the back door insisting to be let out. I have came to learn, especially at night, when CeeCee wants out, let her out. She bolted down the back steps sounding like a grizzly bear and tore into something. By the time I got the barn light on and could see it was all over.

CeeCee 5 now I think in the last year and a half. Possum 0.

What is it CeeCee?

It is dead, I made sure of it. CeeCee is refusing to come in. She is still shaking her new toy like a rag doll. I will let her have another few minutes with her reward before I make her come in for the night.

He was getting beat up by the head rooster, she had 11 Polish and I guess he was the lowest ranking male. Makes me wonder how pretty the ones she kept are!

Good job, CeeCee! Fenix is always going after squirrels, I'm afraid he's not much bigger than an opossum haha.

My old dog killed a squirrel once (well, more than once but this one specific time...), and he buried it on the side of the house with only its tail sticking out. Its tail was sticking out of the ground for a couple years

Another time he killed a young possum and my little brother and I held a funeral for it. Put it in a shoe box and my brother decided it was named "Chimpanzee" so I wrote that on the box, and then we had an entire funeral service (with just the two of us) in the backyard. That was a lot of fun
