I had planned to use this yesterday for Pony Sunday but didn’t get around to it.

When I was heading out the the truck I walked through some clover and wild flowers, my neighbour’s bees were visiting busy gathering nectar and pollen. I tried to take a photo but they are so fast - I managed to get one - con you spot her? View attachment 4174666

She’s almost in the centre of the photo. She really blends in with the background.
If you're accustomed to farm bees, you can't mistaken that stripey hieney❣️ They were plentiful on the farm so they were a staple worker insect.

Gosh they are looking like adults - it’s too soooooon!
Well - we just need some more peeps on here to hatch chickes to feed @Ponypoor chickie need.

@rural mouse 's will be beginning feathering out in a week or two (and be in my favorite stage - the fugly stage - and no - it is NOT short for what you think - it is short for funny/ugly stage - but they are so homely they are adorable in that stage🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Rufous, Allen's, & Anna's are in abundance here & some will stay resident & not migrate if the feeders stay out year-round. We haven't used feeders since AI & Covid so no winter residents any more.

Once yrs ago I caught sight (no pic) of a Calliope at our feeder & got so excited cuz they are so different from the other hummies. The chin whiskers appear very large (like a comical mustache on such a tiny bird) & looked more purplish-mauve in the sunlight. So beautiful ❣️

Calliope I saw had whiskers like this little guy

The female Calliope and the female Rufous look almost identical, and don't have the whiskers. Either way, they're darling, fierce, amazing aerial combatants

Just like chickens, the male birds are generally more splendid ~ except all flamingos or all penguins whose genders look no different to me :idunno

That's super! & yeah, keeping out predators is always the goal best we can. We thought our 6 ft block wall w/ added 1-1/2 ft privacy fence on top would be enough to discourage ground predators but a wiley coyote used a neighbor's roof to jump into our yard pre-dawn. DH from our kitchen sliding door saw it in the yard & called animal control who caught it w/i 45 minutes of the call ~ all done before 6:00 a.m.!!! That's why we are so happy to have a Fort Knox coop & run for our hens' nighttime protection cuz we aren't zoned to keep roo's.
