I'm sorry to hear about your loss. :hugs :hugs :hugs

I'm sorry for your loss. If Grandma knew them, I'm sure she would miss them as well. Chickens grieve, I have seen it! It is not a pretty sight...but if grandma has friends (like Tony), she will be comforted and get over her loss and continue being a chicken.

I hope you have a close friend/companion/family member that can help you grieve and then get over your loss as well. Not to forget it, but to be able to move forward - but still remember - and appreciate the good memories.:hugs:hugs:hugs
Thanks both of you. I will definitely come back to these messages for future reference.
And just to let you all know, my loss wasn't a person.
It was a car. (Not my photo)

Surprisingly, we have no pictures. It's still upsetting and I'll have to get used to it not sitting at the street. Grandma has been inside that car once. I'll find the photo later.

Hi everyone. I should be saying good evening, but, I am saying good morning. The show did not end until 2 am. This time around instead of shutting down the concession a bit early since it was the last we kept going until the very end. We had told Betty previously that we were shutting down to early and missing out on a bunch of sales. The show finally ended and there was another mad rush and huge line with people eating for what felt like the 50th time before their long drives for some home. By the time we got everything cleaned and was able to come home it was 4:30. I was exhausted but my night was not over. Mom volunteered for us to take on the job of picking up the garbage. We took a 45 minute break and instead of me sitting down and relaxing I went ahead and caught Karen and took her down to Betty and talked to her for a bit. I was so tired sitting was the last thing I could do. If I had sat for a bit, I would not have been able to get up and start moving again. We were finally done at 10:30 this morning. I drug myself home, fed and watered the chickens and crawled to bed. I have been up 20 minutes and am so stiff and sore. Rosie gathered the eggs for me and made sure everyone was put up tonight. She roused me when she was done worried. She did the nightly head count and came rushing in telling me I was missing a hen. I did not tell her I gave Karen to Betty. She yelled at me to not do that, I gave her a heart attack. I guess she spent 30 minutes with a flashlight trying to find her thinking at first she was broody again before giving up and fearing something got her. Oops.
Poor Rosie, I know that frantic search, only to find the brat inside hiding in a nestbox.

I bet you’re happy to have the shows over for the season. You have earned a nice rest 👍

I live on the edge of a wildlife refuge and conservation area - a good part of which is wetlands and swamp.
It is why I have so many foxes and other critters. They ignore the boundaries of the refuge!
A good place to live! All sorts of creatures to see. The chickens may not agree with us though!

Hey have you seen your turkey visitor lately?

Bab was able to get in the coop and put herself to bed last night. 😊 I'm happy I trimmed the crests back so much.
I also was up late searching for Ric Flair, and when I opened the nest box on the tan coop I saw he and Bab were snuggled on the roost bar in a way where he was totally hidden when I looked through the pop door earlier!

Disco might be going to a new home, someone on Facebook was searching for his exact breed because her son recently lost his lil booty bantam. It'll be an hour drive BUT I would much rather rehome him over eating him!
