This afternoon when I got home and was letting the chickens out I was confused as to why the silkies were with the main group.

Seems I didn’t latch the Summer House door. As a result I guess Mr P and Bert got into it and Mr P was injured. And we all know what chickens do to those that are injured, they all gang up on them.

As a result poor Mr P is all banged up, and his head has been scalped of most of his feathers. He is traumatized and demoralized. But I made him go out with his silkies ladies, but he pretty much kept to himself.

Then when he went to come in to roost Bert cornered him in the Summer House and beat the stuffing out of him again. Poor Mr P ran behind a stall door to hide. I could have gladly put Bert in the ground right then and there.

Anyways I picked the poor wee man up and brought him into the Summer House, and I gave him a good dose of Tylenol.

This is all my fault, this morning I was trying to get a hold of Rosario to put him in the Hen House for the day, and I guess in my haste to grab him I forgot to latch the door. I am so furious with myself for this happening.

And I have come to the realization that Bert will have to go. I cannot risk poor Mr P, he is too old for that crap.

So now I have Bert, Rosario and Shorley that need to go. And I am more worried than ever about Clyde and Mr LC.

And Rosario actually almost did get put in the ground today, he assaulted poor old Red and had her down, I though he had killed her. She’s ok, but Rosario is lucky that I had to tend to her first and I could cool down a few seconds otherwise he would have been toast.

These young rotten Roos are just not good to have with older fragile hens (and roosters).

Anyways I am heading out to the barn to do chores and check Mr P. Then heading to sleep, all this drama has me totally exhausted and upset. I never should have kept Bert, I should have re-homed him.
So sorry for you and especially for Mr.P he's always being attacked 😔 😢

This morning Mr P was very subdued, not surprised about that, he took quite a thrashing.

I let him and the youngsters out as usual to roam around while I did chores and that rotten little so-and-so Mr LC went and attacked Mr P causing him to run and hide away again.

Mr LC is now on my ‘your arse is close to being gone’ list.

Anyways I locked Mr LC away and Mr P was allowed to be with his ladies and some of the younger chicks without being harassed. He has had more Tylenol this morning, last night I sprayed his bruised and battered bald sections where they scalped him, with some aluminum spray to keep the rotten hens from pecking him.

I checked him earlier, on the barn cam and he was preening with Fluffy and Marty who was more interested in eating from the feed dish.

Yesterday was a day that I didn’t check my barncam - I would have been home fast if I had only checked that darn camera yesterday.

I meant to post these yesterday for Wattle Wednesday and I completely forgot. I'm not waiting a week so here they are a day late.
Also, notice something about Randall? The tail, its gone. He is molting. Is he older then I thought? When he first showed up he acted like a idiot hormonal teenager. He has tiny spurs. Molting, that is something I see my boys do when they are 1 1/2 years old at the earliest.

I have a question, how old is Mr. P?

I only ask this because with the sudden change in attitude between him and Bert I wonder if what you are seeing is a changing of the guard so to speak. Roosters, love them do have a teeny bit shorter lifespan then hens. All that testosterone wrecks their hearts. Bert could sense something we cannot detect about Mr. P. He could be trying to establish himself now as the dominate rooster.

Not to be mean, but the truth of the matter may be that if he would submit and let Bert take over he could have a easy retirement. Let Bert have the majority of the hens and responsibilities and those young one who pick on him.

So we have Monday Mugs, Twosdays, Wattle Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays... What do we have on Friday Saturday and Sunday? I want to challenge myself to do as many as I can every week :D
Fluffy butt Fridays.—- caturday — and all animals, vegetables and minerals on Sunday. (Well maybe not minerals)
