Just heard back: says it looks like a gopher snake (same family as the corn and rat)

It’s harmless, and it will eat mice and other vermin. I encourage them here, in fact they seem to have a hibernaculam in the wall of my barn.

This is the first issue she has had. Thankfully she got it out. Hopefully this was just a fluke and she is back to normal soon. She still needs another bath tomorrow though. Her butt fluff is so filthy.View attachment 3956644View attachment 3956645View attachment 3956646

I've had this problem with my old ladies. I hope you can find the solution.

As for mine their shell came back but their shells were much more fragile after.

Do they bite ?

Any wild animal can bite. With this one it isn't venomous. Still means if it does bite, go clean and disinfect the area.

What was that drop on the hen from above strategy? Bad little rooster.

Yep I threw a pine cone at him for that, then Mr P came by and chased him, and a couple of the other hens went after him.

He is such a turkey!

Clyde is turning into a brat also, he is a big boy for a silkie and he is not afraid to grab one of the Buff Orps and drag her around. Mr LC will run up and chase him off though.

It’s crazy-town here I tell you!

I really need to deal with Rosario, Bert and Shorley who has just decided he also wants to get into the action. Gosh he is a glorious specimen, he is tall, and BIG! He is by far the biggest bird here now. And of course being barred he is a real looker. But he towers over most of the hens here.

What a lovely beast - I have put out an Ad on Kijiji but have not heard back from anyone interested. So sad.

Do you have any antibiotics? Might be worth a course of antibiotics for that. Glad she passed it.
