Wrapped Nocturne's foot. I didn't peel back the scab or anything, cleaned it up, sprayed banixx, triple antibiotic on gauze and vetwrap. She did very well and received pumpkin seeds for her cooperation.

Morinth is NOT a fan of Versace, he must have said something chicken-ist against silkies. Oh well, he will learn about how much of a chicken a silkie is!

Yes the silver is Poppet. I had hoped and frankly expected if there were any partridges they would be silver like her. Instead the 2 partridges are gold. They totally took me by surprise but I am loving them. There are so many genes and modifiers in the silkie genetics I have learned to take what you THINK you know about color genetics and throw it out the window. If the little splayed leg chick from @Ponypoor eggs that hatched had survived it would be blue. It came from a fluffy egg. Explain how a silver partridge and white silkie produced blue? I cannot other then Fluffy is dominate white and it is hiding her true color which would be blue. I totally understand and support her decision on not hatching anymore chicks from her flock. That blue chick though, it would have me sorely tempted to borrow the rooster again and put him only with Fluffy. Once I had a dozen eggs I would only set them in hopes of at least 1 more blue chick. We now know it is possible outcome.

Here is some more pictures of Poppet yesterday.

Poppet is one adorable Silkie! & I had to wait 9 months to get a Blue Silkie from my NPIP breeder here.

I don't have an interest in genetic breeding cuz I'm not zoned for a roo & leave the genetics to our Silkie breeder. If there's a background of Partridge history in either hen or roo this BBS chart may be moot. But surprises do happen in breeding! Apparently blues come from a certain kind of breeding chart that's all I know:

Breeding Blue-Black-Splash Birds

When it comes to breeding for Blue Black Splash, gender does not matter. These colors are not sex linked.

The rooster and hen can be any of these three colors. What does matter is which colors the parent birds are, though. This will determine the percentage of the blue-black-splash coloring in the chicks:

  • black (BB) X black (BB): 100 percent black (BB) chicks
  • black (BB) X blue (Bb): 50 percent black (BB) chicks, 50 percent blue (Bb) chicks
  • black (BB) X splash (bb): 100 percent blue (Bb) chicks
  • blue (Bb) X blue (Bb): 50 percent blue (Bb) chicks, 25 percent black (BB) chicks, 25 percent splash (bb) chicks
  • blue (Bb) X splash (bb): 50 percent blue (Bb) chicks, 50 percent splash (bb) chicks
  • splash (bb) X splash (bb): 100 percent splash (bb) splash

🤔 some of the longer lasting relationships, start out as a hateful first impression! (Just saying)

The moment you've all been waiting for. Bab chose to be his settle-in-buddy, she was alllll over that fence looking at the new fella. He's bigger than Ric Flair so hopefully they decide to cooperate and be handsome fellas together.

And Versace was contemplating my leftover bbq from lunch.

HRH has been training him in the last week's. He has been first to the backdoor to beg for treats and anytime there was the possibility for food she brought him with her. He is ready for his own ladies.

Welcome to your new home Versace! :hugs:love
HURRAY!!!

Maybe Clyde would be a good match😉

I do not know who his egg mama is but it will be Fluffy or Curly. I would have to say both (Clyde and Georgie) are from Fluffy though.
