Hi, I did not fall off the face of the earth... yet.
I have been crazy busy with all the harvesting. I don't know why I grew such a big garden. I have tomatoes coming out of my ears and though people have been taking stuff from the garden I still have an unmanageable amount. I also have baby lop kits coming out of my ears that no one seems to be interested in, which is sucky. I've also been trying to get ready for Thanksgiving - that is a whole different story, I was given a huge turkey from a friend and am now deciding how to thaw it since it doesn't fit in my sink or fridge. I might have to stick it in a cooler.

I'm torn. I know Rosie will be thrilled with a bit of color on George. Mr P has a hint of color on him as well and he is handsome. I had it in my head after all this time that George was going to stay the bright white gorgeous boy he has been. If I am being 100% honest, I am a little sad he is not. Whatever color he ends up being it will not make me love him any more or less. I just liked my sparkly white boy the was he was.
I love white chickens but I love all chickens for the colors they are. I would just love to have another brilliant all white hen. I think they add something to the flock and provide a brilliant contrast that makes the others even prettier.

Glad to know you are busy with a successful garden. That's a great problem to have @LhickenChicken

I would really like to help you out with all of your lovely produce.

Do you have a food bank nearby? Foodbanks could always use help

Hi everyone.

I have a appointment, the 28th which is the best I could do. Thankfully today it is a dull ache. It is a ache though that is threatening to get worse but so far today it has been manageable. I spent some time outside with the chicks. Today is day 3 of freedom and they are doing so well. Still absolutely zero crowing from anyone. Their voices are changing and lots of honking going on at the moment from my geese impersonators. I think I am going to have a new problem on my hands. In the last week I have went from "do I have any boys" to "oh crap do I have more then 1 girl". I wanted a Branch son, now I have a sneaking suspicion I have 4 if not 5 Branch sons.
With RC. Your perpetual "too many" boys with 90% hatch rates.... :lau future hatches....pray for boys....and see if you can get some Twig fertilized eggs next spring for one of your broodies (or the incubator).

:hugs:hugs:hugsOn the tooth

As my location suggests, I'm at least an hour away from every kind of town. Bluffton and Rimbey, the two towns (actually Bluffton is a glorified hamlet) that are closest to me, are really tiny. Bluffton consists of a few streets of extremely run-down looking houses and a post office, at least the parts I've been into, and Rimbey has a veterinary clinic and some grocery stores - not sure if it has a food bank. Plus, my local community of farmers and their animals can take some. All the same it is hard to find places to get all the produce (especially the 'undesirables' like turnips, beets, and winter radishes) to go, because my root cellar only has so much room and I can only eat so much. I have such a soft spot for plants :barnie

I pickle beetroot. It's a lovely snack especially with garlic and spice 😋 😍
