Remember Glynda passed away from likely congestive heart failure.

Fluid can be in the lungs for reasons other than infection. If the ammonia content is real high it can cause damage to the lung tissue which results in fluid in the lungs as well.

I agree with closing off the coop until you can get proper ventilation.

If it's AI, you have to pray it doesn't take them all. There is nothing you can do to stop it.

I worry about it every time something respiratory comes along.
With AI I feel not just one would be ill at once. I am thinking along the lines you have, either a cardiovascular issue, or bacterial, though I have not seen bacterial issues act that fast.

Likely the wee lass had some unknown health issue - our chooks are just like us, they can be born with issues we don’t know about.

I would LOVE to let mine roam "the side yard." But I see/hear hawks, daily. I see raccoons at least weekly. Then there is the neighbor's dog (he's gotten "a couple" of their chickens), and our dog would probably try to go through any fence we could put up. I can't be out there for hours; most of my outdoor chores are out of sight of that area. Then there's the wild bird population, including ducks, geese, and cranes, and the possibility of AI.

I would feel I had failed them if I let them out and something got one or more, or I let a serious disease vector in.

I feel badly that they're enclosed, but the balm to my conscience is that they're safe.

My hat is off to anyone who lets their birds range, even part time.
I have a fenced area out front of the barn where my gang can pretend to be wild.

That didn’t stop a hawk attack on poor Clyde the Brave though. But I do not let them out there unless I am around to watch them - as I was when the hawk struck, I was in the barn and heard the commotion and was able to scare it off.

I have three hens that try my patience by flying the fence - when I get really annoyed I lock them in the barn in the summer house. There is no way I could free range my gang there are just way too many predators.

AMD all the way no intel or Nvidia crap in my house! They had a massive issue with Nvidia and games years ago, like 2014??? And we swore to never get another.

Tax, Nocturne being a cutie patootie.
Also, Versace's tail is nearly straight again. I think the muscle was kinked from being tucked against the door the other night.

I have seperated the cockerels I got from the farm and gave them some vet rx mixed with canned tuna. That will have to do for tonight.
I have also added ventilation to the plastic coop.
Love that little accessory feather 😊

I've got at least ten NVIDIA cards here from various old machines. I dislike NVIDIA solely because of the issues they have with Linux. AMD was my choice of GPU since they play nice with Linux.

Almost every computer here save a few are Intel based. Intel used to be good, but from what I'm seeing I'm not buying more of their stuff anymore.

Tax:
Yet another tower that I have. This is the one that convinced me a desktop was better.

March right on over here my beauty 😊

I am looking for the tax to that, come on Alex, if the chooks don’t ‘find you handsom, they should at least find you handy!’

So Bob (@BY Bob ) as you can see Betty the frizzle has no issue with flying up on that half door - it’s 4’ high.

I would not have thought she would fly all that well being a frizzle, but she does fairly decent.
