Look what my friend gave me the other day.
Does anyone crochet?

That is a cute little chickie!

@SimpleJenn does beautiful crotchet work & has posted several of her talented creations on this thread. Here are some items we ordered from SimpleJenn ~ a custom-order 4-egg Silkie collection handled basket, a crotcheted Dominique chicken, & she artfully signed a note drawing a Silkie merely using little straight strokes to make a likeness!

Marie, she looks fantastic. I’m so sorry I have not been on here and did not know you gave her up or that you have had health problems. Hugs to you!
Thank you.
She's in such a lovely environment for her now. Which has given me a huge lift.

I tried not to mention my problems. I put them at the back of my mind. But had to be a little more sensible because for sometime now I have been putting my life in danger.

It's okay taking the odd risk but I've my other animals and family to think about, life isn't all about oneself.

How are you? It's been ages since we have interacted. :)

Tuff is settling down...finally and showing some of his mama's build (still don't know if she's Pippa or Maizie). End on profile is the leaner leghorn look of grandma Nellie.

And Whiskey is looking great...while still moulting a bit.

Cardhu has managed (so far) avoiding the rumpled look, but has turned her head and neck into spotted bronze with the new feathers. I hadn't realized how much she'd turned blonde until the new feathers started showing.

Poor Indigo did this almost overnight. (Lark has yet to show any signs of moulting). It's not slowing her down in the slightest.

Mera has gone in patches and looks to be past the miserable phase. She's got more spots than ever before.

Yesterday was very windy. Very windy here is 25-30 mph sustained, with gusts over 40, approaching 50. A lot of you might laugh at that. Kind of like Michiganders chuckle at people who think 1/4" of snow is "a lot! of! snow!" as it all depends on what is "normal" weather in your area.

Anyway, every now and then, there was a gust that made the tree branches rattle, and the chickens would high tail it for the coop. Things would calm down a bit, and they'd come back out. Then another gust. Race for cover.

I figure they got plenty of exercise while I was sitting in the chair, giggling.

Same here when the leaves first start falling from the Poplar trees 😊

And heaven help the old wee chook who has a leaf land on one of them!

😁

Wish us luck. We both should already be in the swamp, but mom did not sleep well last night. Hope to be ready and over there in 45 minutes to a hour. It has been 2 years since I have had a chance to go deer hunting, I'm going this morning. Whether we see one or not, being over there just sitting quietly waiting is one of my happy places. I can even appreciate the hawks that call the swamp and hillside home in their natural environment and not stalking my chickens. When they are not flying over my yard they are beautiful birds. The irony is going to be, we are deer hunting, we might see a doe which right now is illegal to harvest. I can guarantee you we will see about 100 squirrels that are absent when we squirrel hunt.
