All this love, but I still feel blue, here’s Blue! (Precious moment) image.jpg

Rooster breeds we all need

I liked this video. I appreciated before they started their list they stated that all roosters are individuals with their own personalities. I have silkies who were number 15. Spot on for calling them puppy dogs who will sit in a lap. They are protective of their girls and I would add in the best daddies in the chicken world. But like individuals there are the Teddy's and Brad's of the silkie world, not everyone can be a Branch.

Then we come to the Polish #13. I'm basing my opinion off of young George the polkie. I choked on my coffee when they stated they would take on much larger dangers. Hello, hanging onto Russ's tail, yup spot on.

I was happy to see Cochins on the list. I appreciate them being called puppy dogs as well and Sir Jaffar really was a lover and a lap chicken. They did him a disservice though claiming cochins were essentially cowards. Sir Jaffar was anything but a coward.

Personally I think Marans should have been on the list, along with in the right homes and flocks Old English Games.

Marans, big, beautiful generally docile. They will protect their flock and are good with other roosters.

Old English, for a single rooster flock you cannot go wrong. Incredibly predator savvy and very protective. They come in almost any color and are beautiful birds. While in general they do not mix well with other roosters they good thing is they are not bred to be aggressive towards people.

Thank you for that. Yes, your assessment of Sir Jaffar was right on track. :hugs

It’s sad that my other two Roos haven’t measured up yet to the point where Sir Jaffar was. I’m not sure if any rooster could. A gift straight from heaven, down to me for the few years he had left? I’m guessing he’s a roo in eternity now! But I miss him terribly
