Yes a lovely walk in the woods, nature is very soothing. Even when it’s brutally cold there is a soothing nature to it.
I love a walk in the woods when it's snowing. It's so quiet you can hear the snow fall. Amazing.

Has anyone ever seen a tick on a chook?
I've seen pictures, but I haven't had any ticks on mine yet. That I know of, anyway. They probably pick them up pretty easily, scratching in dead leaves and walking through tall grass, but it takes up to a few hours for a tick to find a good place to bite, so they'll usually either be shaken or picked off by then

Amen to that!

I grew up on a farm but as life would have it, I wound up living in town as an older adult. After living there for 20 years, the neighborhood started going downhill. Barking dogs, loud mufflers next door, teenagers running through our yard at all hours, etc. I had become a hermit, keeping all the blinds and shades pulled.

Hubby knew I was fading so we had to do something to get me out of there. We searched and searched and found this place, 2.5 acres in the middle of nowhere, with a creek down the hill behind us. Paradise!

That little building furthest away is the coop/Amish garden shed.

Beautiful! Very nice!

30 yrs ago DH & I bought an acre of mountain wilderness to build a cabin & have some livestock for our retirement but by the time we got to retirement our health would not permit us to live such a distance from good medical facilities only located in urban areas. But we don't mind since our current suburb cottage is located at the foot of the mountains & ordinance allows us 5 hens/no roos in our yard which is just the right amount for us :oldoldsters to handle.

It’s a lovely chicken paradise!

@SimpleJenn and @BY Bob and dear Rose.

I am so deeply sorry for the tragic events that have happened. I am at a loss for words other then to say I am deeply and truly sorry. I know the pain of loosing one unexpectedly and the pain of loosing a few over a couple days time. To loose a whole flock at once, I cannot comprehend the shock and heartache you all are going through. I know they were loved birds and my heart also breaks for Jenn's daughter. Some of those chickens were her birds. I know animals can teach children about life, love and death, but this is just to much.
Thanks so much. Your kind words do help. :hugs
