Fixed a couple of coop doors this week. At least I accomplished something on my time off. I didn't realize that diabetes was such an ass kicker until it kicked mine. I'm grateful to have found a good dr that is close. My glucose is around low 100s so I feel good n ready for my next project at work, which starts on Sunday.
Glad to hear you are feeling better and hopefully are getting some good advice on how to manage to keep it under control.

Your dad is probably the only one who thinks that way
Perhaps...
Nope he is not coming in the house for 2 reasons 1) he will be freaked out away from his ladies, 2) he is a chicken who should stay in the barn.

He is fine I checked on him.
That's fine, Pony. The only time we brought a chicken into the house was a few years ago with Mozzarella. Her leg was swollen and it was hurting her, so we brought her in because the others, I believe, were picking on her. We kept her in a box for a few nights.
Speaking of Mozzarella, here's her shriveled up comb.

Well, everyone. Tomorrow I have a big day ahead of me so off to bed I go. Grandma's been in bed. Or, should I say, box.

I waited until just a few minutes ago. I wanted it to be dark and later in the evening so the neighborhood would be quiet. I went and left the light off and stood by the hay. I heard it immediately. The soft clucks a momma makes when she is talking to those babies. Then I really heard it over her clucking, a soft peep of a chick. I may have secretly been hoping her eggs were infertile, all hopes of that are dashed. I then laid down, on the ground and shone my light on her. She is facing me still clucking. She partially lifted herself up to I think move the eggs. I never saw the eggs and never saw a chick poke out in front of her. I know they are at least internally pipped, possibly externally pipped. I'm going to say by in the morning she will have at least 1 chick. She has the possibility for at least 2 as once I did hear for just the briefest of a second multiple cheeps.

Well done Poppet, you have outdone me. Momma Hen is smiling down on you and very proud.

I knew that your legs were bothering you tonight. Somehow I just knew. So I am saying prayers for you 🙏
Thanks Alex…. Still up and at this point if it was summer I would go outside and enjoy the fireflies - but seeing as how it’s winter I will just surf chicken videos online 👍

Gosh you must be beside yourself with worry.

Hopefully everything goes ok. I have my fingers crossed.

What’s with Mozzarella’s funky comb?

Ok hope you are getting a good sleep!
