Ok everyone, I didn’t know how many chooks I had so tonight I counted the all.

Let’s have a little contest on how many chickens do I have now…. A hint, it’s less then 100.

Well obviously the correct answer is zero - they all have names and don’t count.
But straight up beak count - I am going to guess 26.

I will go with that one hahahah

I think you have a similar number to myself. I have not counted recently but I am hovering over the 20 mark. I'm thinking 23 for you.

I need an adult. Accidentally started talking to someone about their bantams, they think I'm interested in getting them. I was mostly complimenting how cute they are.
That settles it, I am 100% getting at least one golden sebright in spring. Hopefully a pair.
Maybe hubby will let me keep little bantams in a seperate coop? A girl can dream.

Turkey update.

I'm sorry I do not have pictures but little Turkey is thriving. Poppet is such a wonderful momma. Honestly, being a silkie I had little doubt of that. She is not a mean momma thank goodness and is tolerant of me messing with her and her chick. Temps have plummeted since Turkey hatched. Hovering in the mid 20s, wind and snow blowing and feels colder then what it is. Poppet sure gave herself a challenge being a first time momma. Every time I check on them she has Turkey tucked up under her all nice and toasty. Turkey is also eating wonderfully being a single chick. She always has a nice full crop. Not a hint of pasty butt, rare I know with broody raised chicks but I still check. Poppet is also very content to keep Turkey in the coop. She is making it easy for me. All my other hens would be a danger to their chicks by day 1 or 2 trying to break out and pacing. Come to think of it, Chiquita was the same way. She was content to keep her 2 clutches in the coop for the first 2 weeks or longer. For not being "real chickens" silkies are such easy mommas when they outwit you or you just give in to their demands.
