I need an adult. Accidentally started talking to someone about their bantams, they think I'm interested in getting them. I was mostly complimenting how cute they are.
That settles it, I am 100% getting at least one golden sebright in spring. Hopefully a pair.
Maybe hubby will let me keep little bantams in a seperate coop? A girl can dream.
I am finding my OEGB bantams are not doing well with the cold, I have been putting them in the Hen House at night where it’s warm-er. During the day I see Mrs LC wanting to hang out under the Sweeter Heater but the others chase her away.

If you do get the I would buy a sweeter Heater for them in their coop.

She was just under it but Henny the bossy pants chased her away.

Thanks for the suggestion! Right now, hubby is saying we can build some platforms and hidey places for bantams, so they can get away from a full sized rooster if needed. Of course, it'll need to be easy to clean and move if a hen goes broody in there.

I have been keeping Mrs LC away from the big Roos since Shirley tries to breed her and almost flattened her

😳😳😳😳😳

Mr P leaves her be, but does try to herd her, but Shirley just grabbed hold of her and jumped on her. He got a good thumping and she got put in with Mr P.

And my barn is full of hiding places!

Don’t count on them being able to run and hide, they aren’t always paying attention to what’s going on. That’s when those rotten Randy Roos strike!

Until I get rid of Shirley and Rosario she has to stay in the Summer House with Mr P, I also have been keeping Clyde in there, the big Roos could do him some serious harm. As it is Mr P has been keeping him in line.

Past few nights I have been carrying everyone into the Hen House where it’s warmer, she and Mr LC snuggle with the Buff Orps. Even Mr P was snuggled with the BOs last night - brrr! Crazy weather up and down so much!

You can also try a cozy coop - I have one for my silkies to snuggle up to.

Ok everyone, I didn’t know how many chooks I had so tonight I counted the all.

Let’s have a little contest on how many chickens do I have now…. A hint, it’s less then 100.

Let the guessing begin!

Still wondering what the prize is?

Working at the theatre today, too much concrete around for pictures to load or post. Most of the crew here started at midnight last night, they are starting to get punchy! Another 1-9 hours to go depending on the crew. I came in at 9 and will be off at 9 this evening, but i am stitcher on the wardrobe crew. Lots of costume repairs on a touring show!

I never considered OEGB bantams as a viable chicken but watching your videos & other online videos on them I am totally sold on them. They are sweet unafraid people-friendly & for all their sprite agility are calm during handling. It's no wonder that all bantams are a popular kids' show bird but OEGB excel at being handled. I have too small a yard that they'll easily fly over our wall but these sweeties sure would be a nice addition to a flock of smaller breed chickens, i.e. Polish, Silkies, Sultans, Brahma bantams, Cochin bantams (Pekins), Dominique bantams, etc....

Sweet tooth
