Winter has Arrived

I woke up to this.

The chickens have not left their coops.

I have not yet gotten the shower curtains up so the wind is whipping through the run and under the coop. I'm guessing that Hattie might be alone all day. I need to get her heat panel moved down so she can stay warm.

I am failing as a chicken servant.
Same here - it is COLD and snowy and very windy.
Everyone is unhappy including me. They think it is my fault, but I told them it was your fault and it looks to me like your ladies agree that you are to blame!

Last winter we had a blizzard that came on suddenly and I knew we have chickens that come up by the house, so hubs and I donned our gear and walked the path to the coop. On the right side off in the snow something caught my eye...one of the darker silkies! We plucked four of them out of the snow. Why do they fly off the paths is anyone's guess. Silkies can hardly fly anyway so not sure how four of them made it that far off the path.
That is terrifying. If you read my coop article you can learn about the blizzard we had here that would have suffocated our ladies had I not thought about them when I went out to free a song bird from their run.
