Good point to consider!

But, the same state also has a law that it's illegal to fart in public after 6 p.m. on Thursdays, or for a woman to fall asleep under the hair drier in a salon...etc.

If the dye used is safe for children, I'd consider it safe for animals, too, and that's all I would use. It's water-based and will wash out, but I would just let it wear out.

Again, just for fun on one of them. I'd hate to cause a different-looking chicken to get picked on though, so I could be creating a problem here. 🤔

I'll think about it and check into it further. We'll see. If I do it, this'll be the first place I post a picture. :)
You could just put Christmas lights on them.......

I haven't had a good day yesterday so some positive affirmations or anything would be nice.
Here's Grandma. This is for Pony since she can't seem to get enough of her.

Grandma is beautiful!

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad day and don't know why so maybe I could just make you smile.

Yes that is a wild rose, if you look closely you can see the thorns on the green stalks. The red ‘berries’ are rose hips, they are the fruit from the flower.

Some rose hips make a lovely tea.
Rose hips can be fed to chickens, right? At least some varieties? I read that multiflora rose hips are edible, so if that's what that plant is, I might go back and grab a handful for my girls. In the picture it looks like some of them have been picked at by birds or other critters!

If you cut one open, it's full of tiny seeds.

I would trust my chickens to eat those, but I'm guessing they wouldn't. There's a rose bush by where they dust bathe, and I've never noticed them picking on it.

Great work, Bob! Now they areall clean and cozy.

Aurora looks so vibrant and healthy. Some of my older girls, Bridge and Little Mill in particular, both of whixh have bum legs/feet, are slowing WAY down. Poor Bridge can hardly walk now. But she is still the boss bird and I help her down every morning. I may give her some CBD and aspirin this weekend so she can get around better. Sometimes I find her laying on her side with her bad leg stretched way out behind her. Kind of looks like Merricks but I think it’s more that she’s relieving her pain somehow.
I give Red 1/2 an aspirin every night, have done so for over a yr now, I find it really helps with her mobility, and likley helps with any cardio issues I suspect she has. It’s also been hypothesized that it acts as an anti-inflammatory to help reduce to issues caused by internal laying.

She has tolerated it well, and she has a good appetite still, don’t get in the way of her getting to her grub! Many chickie has had a good hard peck to the head!

Late night vigil for poor Dakota. She is not comfortable and I don’t have any aspirin for her. She is talking with me and fixing her feathers, but I know my chickens, and she is not comfortable tonight. :(
Poor Cash is like that, and now I have Ruth and Babe 😢 why oh why must they moult in the winter?!

Sure hope wee Dakota is feeling better soon ♥️

♥️ She’s such a wonderful elderly wee lady 🥰

You are doing an awesome job with her. I hope today is a better day for you ♥️

There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

Hattie is always laying down these days. She is moving better than earlier in the year but she does not scratch any longer. She gets up to eat and move with everyone but lays down between. She was not moving with everyone over the summer so this is a major improvement.

Aurora shows no signs of showing down at all. She is still all out.
Red is like this, she just hangs out with everyone, but I rarely see her scratching around. But bring out treats and leftovers and it game changer! She can still move when she wants!
