Blue wheaten is indeed a very pretty colour. But aren't they all 🤗 ! I think I'll always be partial to red hens because my first chickens were all that colour.

That is very impressive ! Thanks for taking the time to put the pictures together. It must be really an amazing feeling to see how the children of your original chickens turn out ! Not only colour, but body shape... It's something we miss by getting eggs from our neighbours.
And I can see that the black tail would be dominant. In my currant flock, I think all my chickens would end up with it.

And, as nice as it is to see the variety of colours..I wish we would also have information on genetics for health issues. But maybe that's far too complex since many of us already struggle with colour genes !

Chipie has the black tail also. There is a whole lineage of bantams from her family in the village, there must be at least 30, and all the hens look exactly like Chipie and the roos like smaller versions of Théo.

That’s a nice wood stove! And a great place for moggies to sleep under 😊

Rosario has gone to his new home; a lady came with her daughter to get him a bit earlier. They have 12, 6 month old pullets waiting for him - he will be enjoying the good life! I have asked them to send photos.

Everyone here is wondering where he is, and Shirley seems a bit lost. But Mr LC is happy he is gone I sure. He is quickly taking over the main gang.

For now I am going to keep Shirley here, he is such a glorious boy I just don’t want him to go just anywhere.

He’s limping a bit on his right leg, can’t see anything obvious, I am wondering if he has injured himself flying down from the roost ledge. He is one big boy!

Can't do the chicken days currently, but I can do Caturday and pony Sunday! Murray, the matching kitten to my favorite, Biscuit, was feeling pretty goofy one day last summer. It was only a couple weeks after this picture that he went to his new home. His new owners love to spoil their cats, (the cat they already had was MASSIVELY fat,) so Murray is living it up there with his sister Daisy, (named by the little girl who adopted her.)

Awwww kittens are so cute 😊

My wish may be starting. 32 today. The evil S word is also happening but lightly and not sticking. Turkey is 3 weeks old, the coop is insulated and the horses are freshly bedded down. Rosie is on Christmas break and will not need to freeze in the mornings. Bring on a cold snap and freeze the mud please.

C or F? Because I can handle -4⁰F (-20⁰C). Not if I'm constantly outside in it... But I've taken walks in blizzard/whiteout conditions before 🤣
Any temps I give you will be in Celsius (unless I post F in brackets) such as:

Right now it is -10C (13F). ♥️

If it’s less than 25C (approx 80F) then it’s cold for me.

I didn’t flatten the mud down the other night to make it smooth on the places the horses and I walk, and it froze into ruts like cement - ankle breakers. I could use a bit of snow to fill the tuts in.

The chooks have given up wanting to go outside, I put my new heater up but they aren’t using it so far. Of course the baldies are in with Mr P hahaha. May need to get them out in the main gang.
