Feeding poultry to poultry is probably a real bad idea now.
Yup….. I am rethinking my whole ‘outside’ thing with the chooks now.

Talk on the subject of backyard poultry keepers is to wear ‘PPE’ - I really don’t see how feasible that would be for me.

I would have to separate the horses and chooks completely and wear my PPE while doing anything with them.

Not handle them…. Not have them snooze on me when I am snoozing hahaha.

I am very mad at these factory farms right now.

You must have good bones as often as you slip. Either that or you are good at falling. I'm so glad you weren't hurt. :hugs :hugs :hugs
Slips but not falls - yet!

And let me tell you the other day I really do not know how I didn’t fall, those brick pavers are slippery when wet, I skidded along a wet section I hadn’t swept yet and both feet were going every which way.

Can you imagine what I would have to say to the doctor in Emerg? How did you break your arm?

I would of course just tell him I slipped on ice! Hahaha

I love how Sybil stomps her little feet when she squats for me 🤣

Taptaptaptaptaptaptaptap as she hunkers down. So silly!
My pullets do that also, but the older hens just ignore the Roos - no tap dancing from them! No matter how much the Roo dances for them.

I see videos where some hens squat without tapdancing and some that do the stomps. Are the stomps like a "notice me" type thing? Or do some just do it while others just dont? Are pullets more likely to do it over mature hens?

Their behaviors are so fascinating!

I have found with chooks that anything goes.

Some learn behaviour from others, some do things their own way.

It may also be that they are setting themselves, like a person might shift around before picking up something heavy.

Oh no! How scary, I have not heard this here in BC, Canada.

I guess the take away here is to ensure the feed we give to our pets is also cooked well.

Factory farms are the culprit in these pathogens’ spread. I really wish they would limit the number of birds held at these farms. So sad.
Glutted crowded egg factory industrialization & rapidly grown Cornish-Cross chicken meat in restaurants, supermarkets, & fast foods was a topic at this year's Christmas table ~ & I wasn't the one who started the topic! General public is getting educated & learning the difference between cage-free & pasture-raised!!! & there was no chicken or turkey served at dinner either! It was white corn cheese tamales, rice, beans, & prime rib roast! All the veggies, crackers, cheese, & cookie/chocolate plates were great too!
