Hattie is only 6 months older than Aurora.

She is dealing with the arthritis now and Aurora is not so Hattie seems older.
Hmmm I didn’t realize they were so close.

I can sympathize with poor Hattie, arthritis sucks. It’s wonderful to see her out and about in the yard, I sure hope your weather cooperates for you and stays decent.

She's a beauty. 🥰
And she is very people oriented having been raised practically alone with only her brother. She follows me everywhere, gets under foot, gets in the way when I am mucking out, both her and Laverne. Both those two have been accidentally clobbered by walking into the manure rake while I am mucking out - sheesh! And still they keep coming back, digging and ‘helping’ me every morning.

I have actually started leaving them in the Hen House until I am half way through stalls so they can stay in Reenie’s stall and dig around. It’s too dangerous for them getting under foot.

If anyone was interested, I have my Bobo in the house tonight. She’s very comfortable being inside with me. It’s supposed to rain tonight, but she gets the privilege of being warm, dry and special treats if she wishes. She’s that outcast Rock of the Rockettes. View attachment 4042922
She’s a princess for sure 😊♥️

Ok night night all - I have been putting off chores as it’s snowing like crazy - but it’s mild at 0C (32F). Going to drop like rock over night though.

Tomorrow I need to come home early and get the snow off mum’s gazebo, and the two cover-all fabric sheds. Don’t want them collapsing - I got about 6” of wet snow today added to the over foot already on the gazebo. I noted the long side of the roof starting to sag. Should have put a support on those sides also. Winter is just such a chore.
Well I was stressing about that gazebo, so I grabbed the snow rake and hauled the snow off the roof. I figured it would freeze overnight and I wouldn’t be able to get it pulled down. The snow in the backyard is over my knees, my boots were filled with snow - ugh.

That’s a lot of weight on a flimsy prefab gazebo - even it it does have a ‘metal’ roof. Next year I’ll put some 6mil poly (heavy plastic) sheeting on the roof so the snow slides off easier.

I am thinking of doing something along that line with the Rooster Run, put a slant roof with some plywood and throw some 6mil poly over it for the rain and snow to slide off, but it’s will be someplace for the chooks to get outside.

Also use to poly on the sides to let light in but stop the wind…. A nice sun trap.

That would be great for the rooster run. They would love that.

Well, I did a thing today, darn my brother and his enabling.

They have been home about 30 minutes. I have them in the coop settling down. I saw them both, and could not decide on which one to take and leave the other.

Rosie already named them. Mr plum wattles is now Davy Jones and his brother is Hector Barbosa. Davy and Barbosa for short. Davy is the braver of the two. When I let them out of the box I spooked Barbosa by moving the box back and he went into the nest box and hid. Davy just stood there looking at me and I massaged his crop. I have yet to meet a rooster who does not enjoy a good crop massage and Davy is no exception. Tomorrow I will spend all day outside. Half my time with my dear George and the other half just sitting in the coop getting to know the boys.
Davy after his crop massage, I think he wanted me to do it again.
