We acquired a few months ago, some really beautiful chickens. They have blocky bodies, and are goldish red with black tipped feathers, but their most unique feature are fluffy cheeks-they look like the English mutton chops style. Does anyone know what breed they might be?

You should post some pictures! That could help us all determine what breed they are a lot quicker.

However, the most common chicken breed I'd say with muffs or beards (poofy cheeks) are probably Easter Egger chickens. Are your birds laying yet? If they are and they are laying a greenish/blue egg then that's what you've got!

Without pictures it's almost impossible to tell.

Do they look like these? If so, you've got Easter Eggers!

http://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/Easter-Eggers-B145.aspx :

Easter Eggers are not a breed per se, but a variety of chicken that does not conform to any breed standard but lays large to extra large eggs that vary in shade from blue to green to olive to aqua and sometimes even pinkish. Easter Eggers vary widely in color and conformation, and are exceptionally friendly and hardy. Since they are usually quite friendly to children and humans in general, they are a great choice for a family flock. Most hatcheries mistakenly label their Easter Eggers as Ameraucanas or Araucanas (or various misspellings thereof). True Ameraucanas and Araucanas are currently only available through breeders. Eater Eggers do not qualify to be shown, since they do not conform to a breed standard.

Thanks to everyone who replied back. They look a lot like the Easter Eggers. I will try and get some pictures up when it isn't raining.

Do you guess think that's Sweetie could be an Easter egger? I bought 7 - 1 week old chicks from a feed store. Sign said Bantum. Hoping she is a she with big combs. There is no waddle development yet. Figured crossed. She/he is 7.5 weeks old. Big old check feathers cute, shy, and stand offish. White specks starting to show, but no red feathers that I see.
