Has anyone had any chickens with fowl pox?
I had 24 chicks born and when they were about 10-12 weeks old they all nearly got these growths on them on their eyes beaks mouth waddles and comb so many have been half blinded by them on at least one side I’ve never seen such! I did find a video about using Colgate on them so I did that a few nights ago and looks like not much change I just can’t see this getting any better… they seem healthy and lively otherwise! 😫

All the grown chickens are ok I did separate them to a pen by themselves. I don’t know why this post is entitled “In the brooder” I didn’t pick that topic!

Will they loose their eye if it’s ballooned up? 😪
Can you post some photos?

Photos can be helpful. Fowl pox is a virus that comes from mosquitoes. It lasts about 3 weeks, and may run through the flock. Betadine is sometimes used on scabs to help dry them up, but don’t handle the scabs much since it can spread the virus. Young chicks and pullets have a rougher time with pox, since the scabs can get very swollen. Make sure they can see their food and water, and help them out if not.
