Candling Day 7!

I think we’ve got 6 babies growing! I don’t think Fig is developing, but like you said @Cheekychook12 , I’ll keep him in a bit longer.

I think the air cells are going okay, too. They seem close to the diagrams I’ve seen. I think it’s the part I’m most unsure of, so feedback welcome.

We also saw them moving around! It was such a cool experience. Our first time incubating has been a lot of fun so far!

Fig does look like it was infertile, rest look good though to me😁
I can see veins on all but fig

Candling day 14!!

We finally removed Fig; it wasn’t developing. But the good news is the other 6 are doing great! The pictures are dreadful but I think you can tell that they are alive.

We saw lots of them moving around; I think you can see one of Maple’s feet on the bottom left side. It’s very exciting!!

I was worried about the temperature this week and have been taking more frequent measurements. I was worried the temperature would ruin the hatch, so I’m glad to see 6 chicks still alive.

Next up, lockdown on day 18!! I’ve even gotten a little camera so I can record the hatch if it happens during the night. I can’t wait to see what the chicks look like!

They look good, are you going to candle again on day 18?

LOCKDOWN!! 🔒

I did a final candling to check on the eggs. I think they look alive, hopefully I am right!

I turned off the auto turner and removed the turning mechanism. I put down an anti slip pad, and aligned the eggs with the air pocket up. I put them all close together to make it easier for my camera to capture the footage.

It’s getting close now! Very very excited!

Holy smokes Stick has externally pipped!!? Isn’t this early? It’s day 18, this evening will be day 19. Does that mean I’ve done something wrong or should I just be excited??

Ok the plot thickens here. I really hope this isn’t a sign that I’ve royally screwed up the hatch because I’ve got a SECOND pip here. Holy smokes. I really hope I haven’t been a bad fake mother hen!!!

If the incubating temp was a little high that can happen
Are you sure you counted the days correctly
Also are they bantams? My bantams hatch on day 20
I wouldn’t be too worried
