Frostbite rooster now sick

Honestly we are fine with him being inside he gets along with the dog and the cat they just all ignore eachother. He is a very good boy. We have been treating his wound for about a week now. It’s that color because we used the no peck

Almost year old leghorn rooster had frostbite. Everything I read said to bring him inside it thawed out and some turned black I understand he may lose some of it. He slept inside last night. He was crowing this morning at 6AM but now he won’t eat or drink and is lethargic and had one yellow watery poop. He also has had his mouth open and some heavy breathing. I have been giving him electrolytes and vertrx through a syringe. Is he sick because of the frostbite? Or is something else wrong?

The temp in 65 in the house and I considered he may want his girls I did bring him out to see them this morning but he just went in the coop and laid down on the roost. I’m so worried they may pick at his wounds the no peck solution I bought doesn’t seem to work. They still pecked him. Also everything I have read said to keep him inside with the frostbite. It won’t get above 23 degrees today. Could it be he is depressed?

When we brought him in he ate lastnight and it was his normal feed. What degree would be ok for him to go back out in? Yes I can put a mirror in there with him

Leave the Frostbitten tissue alone, don't rub anything on it, don't handle it.

Provide him with food/water. Put the water on a block to keep it up off the floor so he can reach it better.

Get some clear photos of that wound on the tail and of his poop.

How long has he had the injury?

He does look very lethargic, do you have any other roosters? It could be a combination of pecking and frostbite, Is the area round his tail swollen?

Giving him some vitamins and electrolytes in is water couldn't hurt. I give my flocks "Rooster Booster" powder that mixes into the water. Instructions for how much to use are on the back of the container. Hope your roo gets to feeling better soon!

No other roosters he’s my only one. I was thinking it could be a combo that’s why I just brought him in to nurse him.

I would say about a week he has been pecked. When they hawk first attacked it was Christmas Eve and just pulled feathers out no blood or wounds but then all of a sudden he came out of the coop with a bloody tail. I will get better pictures. He has only pooped once since about 11AM before that his pooped looked great! It was even normal this morning.

Judging on this, his comb is fine it’s just minor frost bite, I’d wait a couple more days for him to completely scab over, make sure to give him an egg a day for natural vitamins. And he should be good to go back with his lady’s. Any other issues let me know

Look carefully at the wound around his tail. Are the hens pecking it? Also make sure he does not have flystrike.

I would say about a week he has been pecked. When they hawk first attacked it was Christmas Eve and just pulled feathers out no blood or wounds but then all of a sudden he came out of the coop with a bloody tail. I will get better pictures. He has only pooped once since about 11AM before that his pooped looked great! It was even normal this morning.

He just pooped again

I would work on getting him hydrated. Give him some sugar water or electrolytes.

Once he's drinking, offer some wet feed. Bits of egg or fish can be offered to help entice him.

What does his crop feel like?

What do you feed, including treats?

It would be good to see the wounds. Likely he has more going on than frostbite.

Look for any other wounds he may have about the wings, under the tail at the vent. Also look for lice/mites while you are examining him.
