Frustrated about the availability of chicks

Did you find chicks?

Got my new babies today! (I had forgotten how adorable baby chicks are when they sleep. Precious!)

I got my order from MurrayMcMurray Hatchery today. They were hatched the 14th. They did not include the Fayoumis but substituted 6 Phoenixes which are new to me! 6 Anconas, 5 live +1 dead Buff Minorcas, 1 annoying White Leghorn roo who keeps pecking everyone's toes, 1 packing peanut/surprise chick who is greyish and has a white spot on top (probably a roo) and the 6 tiny phoenixes who look like mini sparrows with longer than usual legs.

I unpacked them, counted & sorted in the wagon. You can see the white leghorn roo on the left side. The spare chick is the greyish one in the gro-gel. The phoenixes are the brown stripey ones.

Omg my aunt had a McMurry Ancona and it was her FAVORITE chicken! Let us know how they grow up! Glad you had a successful delivery after so many bad stories, hopefully the weather fixes so many of the issues that people were having.

I ordered 15 sexed cream legbar and barred rock chicks in January to be shipped September 10. They had plenty of SR available and they were much cheaper but the heat kills more than the cold so I chose to wait until September.(I never order SR because I don't need but one rooster) Glad your baby chicks arrived safely!(minus the one)

So is anyone else having issues with every chick being bought up within a small amount of time after arrival at stores?

In my area they are being bought up so fast?
Yes, they are sold out every time I make it to the store, and that’s the only way you can get all females. My solution: I obtained a rooster from a friend who had too many. I put 3 of my layer hens in his pen for a week. Now I’m incubating 24 eggs. So far all showing signs of life. The down side of this is ending up with unwanted roosters. It’s still better than having nothing at all to replace the aging hens. I just might keep on incubating and then sell straight run hatchlings
