I guess having Panacur/SafeGuard will do alot of good to my chickens, because one of my hens has (had) coccidiosis, as well as ascaridiose, heterakidose and capilariose worms inside her guts (lesson learnt: never buy from a local farmer again). Coccidiosis treatment has just ended, now it's up to treat the rest of her parasites to ensure better health and finally stop the diarrhea that's been plaguing her since day 1. If I can treat both my rooster's gapeworms and my hen's capilary worms at the same time, I'll gladly take that med. Vet stores are closed this weekend, so I'll start calling around tomorrow.

Good luck, I hope you can healthy them up soon! Make SURE to use probiotics for a week following all these drugs. Yeast infections are opportunistic and meds tend to strip all the good bacteria and good yeasts from the intestinal tract leaving it open to pathogens.

Oooh, it's a good thing you mentioned probiotics. I wouldn't have thought about it o.o I didn't think using Panacur on top of Amphrol would do that, but then again, modern meds are known to have some annoying side-effects. I gather giving my flock some yogourt will solve the problem? (Is there a specific dosage per chicken?)

Medications can easily upset the balance of good bacteria in the gut. Chickens are so sensitive. I would think 1 maybe 2 teaspoons of plain unsweetened yogurt per bird each day for a week would be sufficient.

I keep reading on posts that Flubendazole is the only reliable thing that treats gapeworms, and that Safeguard/Panacur's main ingredient, Fenbendazole, is ineffective - whether because of the dose on that photo posted earlier, or some other factor. Can someone clarify?

My book says that fenbendazole is effective for this. Recommended dosages vary, also depending on the species of bird being treated. I don't have the very latest info on this.
