Today I was wondering if I might be able to train him to do DPT when he's older (I have POTS). 🤔 It might be interesting. DPT by itself isn't all that complicated in terms of service tasks, as far as I'm aware. I got him to come and lay down straight on one of my legs today (usually he wants to play when I am on the floor), and it made me feel so much better. 😂 So maybe it can be a future aspiration.

Thank you!
I definitely struggle with knowing if we're doing things well or even correctly, because I have nothing to compare it to. No past experience or other dogs similar to him to look at, no timelines for anything to give me a good idea. I think that's the worst of it! I'm not sure if we are making appropriate progress where we should, and it burns me out a little.
Don't be stressed about it!! A 4mo pup is still VERY young and you shouldn't expect too much from him or you!

That would be a great way to give him a job! I know nothing about training service dog's but I'm sure there are professionals out there who could help you.

Thank you, that really is so helpful to hear! 🤗

I definitely think he would enjoy a job, he has fantastic drive when he knows we are training, and when there is food involved. He was perfectly happy to lay on my leg and wait for his treat, of course! I've also been thinking about some casual sports with him, maybe obedience and/or rally, which I think he could do well with. He has a good amount of energy, so maybe he would enjoy something like agility (when his joints are more developed, of course). Whatever I try and train him in, I'm sure he will excell at. He has those Shepherd smarts (and mouthiness) for sure.

Wow, that's impressive! What a special boy! 🥰
Right?! Thank you:) He really is. My youngest kid was only 7 months old when I brought him home and he's been her guardian since Day 1, always laying next to her if he's not by my side:) My husband found a puppy a few months later and he immediately accepted and 'gently fathered' her from the start - now he helps her with minding her manners and learning tricks/commands so he can get his treats faster lol. My first real soul-bond dog passed in 2017 and Bruno is the first dog I've let in since & he's exceeded every hope and expectation I didn't realize I had:)
