My goose's face is swollen on both sides and under her chin. One side is a little bigger than the other. It's soft, not hard, and she doesn't like us to touch it. She has been molting, but seems normal otherwise. She has a good appetite. Saw her shake her head a couple of times. When we first noticed it, she was coughing, like something was stuck in her throat, but only for a short while that first day. If I need to, I'll take her to the vet. Does anybody know what would cause this? I'm attaching a picture. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for replying! I did look in her mouth but couldn't see anything extra stuck in there, and her throat seems normal. It's still cool here, and the only bees we've seen are bumblebees around the flowering bushes. That's a thought. In case that's it, maybe I should see if it gets better in a day or two. I appreciate your help!

This is what my cat looked like after his encounter with a bumblebee in the living room. They can sting! The swelling went down after a day - and the bumblebee lived and was set free.

poor kitty. My cat got a snake bite to the face and a huge swelled head. I agree this looks like a bite or sting and if she is eating and drinking I would give it a day to reduce. If it gets bigger that is different. I don't know where you are located, but I have lots of stingy creepy crawlies here that occasionally get one of us. The cat did seem to learn not to play with snakes, can't say the same for the dog.

Thank you all for the help! She started lifting up her tongue after I had her mouth open for a while and was wondering how to see under her tongue (so she helped, ha). Everything looks good in her mouth. Hopefully the swelling will start going down. We had to take two ducks to the vet this past year, so it will be nice if this gets better on its own. I'll let you know one way or the other.

Please do and also tips on transport if you take her in. I put ducks in the cat carrier for transportation. I have no idea how I would get the goose in. I have a vision of her strapped on the passenger seat of the convertible with a scarf and goggles.
