Hey guys! I have a young flock of 5 Guinea fowls on my farm. They have always stuck together, however today I noticed that one of them wasn’t acting as they usually do. But I’m not sure if im maybe just reading too far into it. His neck was like that the entire time I was watching him (around 5 minutes). He only went to the rest of the flock when I would go near him as my flock is very shy to humans. But when I wasn’t nearby he would fall behind the rest and just sit either in the coop or under the cubby house we have.
I don’t know if I’m reading too far into it or not. I will try to get a closer look at him tonight when he’s in bed

I personally do not think you are reading too much into it. I think it is better to be on the observant and cautious side, than to ignore signs of possible ill health. So welcome to the Backyard Chickens forum website. I am unfortunately no expert on poultry, but I can ask you for more information to help others who are more in-the-know to give advice...

Is the Guinea Fowl eating and drinking normally?

Have you noticed any signs of mucus around the its beak and/or nasal passages?

That is all I can think of to ask at the moment.

Oh yes, it helps to know where you are from which is not up on your profile information yet.

I will update it asap thank you for telling me! I am situated in Western Australia. I have not seen any mucus currently as I cannot get close enough currently
However when he goes to bed I will pick him up and have a look at him for anything I could’ve missed and any mucus
I have not seen him eat or drink all day either, I haven’t even seen him nearby his water at all.

I have picked him up and had a look at him. He doesn’t seem to be physically sick but by looking at the top of his head and comparing it to his friends it’s clear he is getting bullied by one of the chickens. I would seperate him to put him in a place to recover but he got very scared and sad so I have put him with his friends and will keep an eye on him in the coming days.
