Guinea x chicken hybrid grow-along

Time flies when you're having fun! Sorry @Prince and Pavo I didn't see a notification of your question when you sent it.

Ember is still around with us. Over her first winter even with her booties she lost a couple toes but otherwise is doing good still. I can confirm she is actually a she as we were gifted with an egg today that is brand new to us - not from my chickens and obviously not a guinea egg (it's the egg in between the chicken and guinea one in photo below). I did see her have nesting behaviors (throwing straw on her back) just the other day, too, so looks like my gut instinct was correct :) She has these TINY wattles on both sides of her face, and her feathers just have this beautiful penciling. I'm happy she's still with us ❤️

Awesome. I'm so glad to hear she's doing well. Congrats on the egg!

That’s incredible! So glad to hear she’s still doing well. I am also a bit surprised to hear she’s laying eggs! That’s amazing!

How is she doing? Have you got anymore eggs?
She's still doing good. Her booties came off and due to malformation of feet I couldn't get them back on, so she' currently bootless; her balance is a little worse but she's still quite mobile and eager to forage. Working on a larger fenced area so they have access to more bugs.

She has laid a few more eggs on/off. I've probably collected around 6? But I also have an egg eater chicken so it's possible she's laid more.

We have finally completed a huge fencing project. Ember and the other birds now has access to 9.3 acres of forest and pasture, and although she stays close to the coop she spends most of her time outside (aside from when we lock everyone in over night). She does hang out with the other chickens/guineas/ducks. Today she entered the goat area with some of the other birds for the first time, too.

Chillin with the hens. Here you can see the tiny triangle wattle on her face.

Exploring the goat pen. Ember is the bottom right most bird.

Wow she’s a very cool looking bird! It’s awesome that she’s beaten the odds and made it so far!
Ps, love your username! We have a Morgase, Elaida, and Liandrin in our flock 🤣

haha I have a Morgase too but she's a newf! I've also got a Lanfear, Min, Verin, Elayne, Logain, Alivia (all cats/dogs).
I just hope she continues to beat the odds... she's already made it 1.3 years so we'll see. She takes after the guinea flighty side for sure. She doesn't like to be handled or approached and she chitter/squawks at you if you get too close. She is very unique-sounding.
