Cackle Mini Surprise coming! Grow-a-long!

Unfortunately after I put them in the coop they were well for about a week until something I assume a weasel pushed in through the floor and killed all of them.
I had hoped having that many birds would mean they would have a higher chance of leaving some alive but clearly it was just a game for the animal.
I will be working on the coop until next February when I am able to order more as I've been in a depressive slump. . I was fully prepared for some of them to die but having them slaughtered all at once made me feel sick. They weren't meant to die like that and I wish I had known it was unsafe for them. There is many things I wish but I will wait now.
Not many people found this thread interesting so I didn't bother posting, maybe I will try again with the next batch but there won't be any more posts here as it breaks my heart to see them again
My heart hurts for you! I just hope you know that many people probably did enjoy this thread, even though they didn't post or react much. I definitely did.

Losing chicks happens to the best of us, so I do hope you can forgive yourself and hopefully re-fortify their space and try again. You don't know how to learn from things, unless you experience them. You were doing your best and gave them a great home and care while they were here. That's what's important. These things happen in nature, too, so don't be too hard on yourself.

I really hope if you try again, you will keep us updated in a new thread. Thank you for sharing with us! ❤️

Thank you for your kind words. I just feel like I should've known better.
I don't have disposable income so I didn't have plans to replace them so soon but a family member paid for me to get more after hearing what happened. I am extremely grateful. They will be here on the 9th however it is a picked bunch of EEs and a frizzle rooster so no mystery this time. I would love to get another mixed batch, they just don't have much availability in the winter.
I will see how these ones do and chicken math can take over from there.

Chicken math sure does take over. That is so nice! I’m happy you get to start over. Don’t worry about the last ones, just learn from the mistake and keep your next ones safe. Please keep us updated!

I’m so sorry you lost your other flock! But as others mentioned mistakes happen try not to beat yourself up about it. I’m glad you’re getting more. Be sure to post pictures and update us. :)
