I have researched many different ways to repell raccoons and heard that coyote urine will work. You just sprinkle it around the yard and raccoons, deer and the like will stay away for fear of coming across a coyote.

I need to get rid of our raccoons or repel them so they will leave my hens alone. I have already lost one duck and hope to keep it at that.

Are there any other suggestions for dealing with racoons???

i have used fox urine before and it kept critters away from my garden.

DON'T get it on you! talk about the stink that keeps on giving.

the other method i use for keeping raccoons away involves my big black boots and a shot gun!

I told my DS who is 10 that if he wants to target shoot he could aim at any coon in the yard. LOL

Where do you get your fox urine from?

My parents have plenty of coyotes in their area but they refuse to go gather urine samples for me. Go figure?!!??

I had first unsuccessfully used my own brand to marinate the coop area to no success...

So, then my method of choice used to be a .22, which was okay, but....

Now it is a brand spanking new Remington 770 .270 rifle. I fully expect exploding raccoons coming to a coop near me!

bluey's plan will certainly work! pop goes the weasel and the raccoon and the opossum!

the urine can be purchased in the garden section of hardware stores usually.

those coyotes aren't very helpful filling the stadium helpers like they used to be!

good one!

thanks! i'm wearing my super cape. it helps. (it's really just a towel, but the chickens, cats, dogs and everyone else around here seem to think it's neat.)

We don't have any close neighbors and this may sound gross but, it seems that any male around my house will fine a place outside to relieve himself. Maybe that helps to detour the preditors. I have seen cayotes, racoons, possums, foxes, shunks, etc on my property but. they don't get too close.
