We are raising Chicks here in our home.We have been raising them for about an year now but the funny thing is that we are still struggle here and there.I brought this up so that we discuss on how to hatch eggs specifically by brooders, the condition that should be set, the feeds that one should give to a brooder, the condition that should be set for the chicks that hatch, the kind of meal, and its period, the favourable condition for raising chicks, if it's better to keep them in doors or outside.

When I have a broody hen I either break her or give her eggs. I generally confine her or else other hens will add eggs and disrupt the nest. I make sure she gets off once a day and returns to her eggs.

After they hatch I feed them all a non medicated chick starter and keep them separately, but where the flock can see them. After about 2 weeks I do supervised outing. There may or may not be fighting with the hen with over hens. Generally after another week or two I can let them out for good. I switch everyone over to a non medicated chick starter up until the chicks can eat the all flock ration pellets.

I always raise them outside in the coop or shed whether I'm brooding or a hen is.
