Heat lamp or no

Well some folks brooding in air conditioning and 2 week old duckling may be chilled if they are unusually noisy and have plenty of feed and water. I did watch my last set of ducklings closely since I usually let mama brood and they only used the heat plate the first two weeks where they got under after that it was on top . Our house is 74-75 . Like you say we just have to watch how they behave. All depends on what temps everyone is having since we’re all from different parts of this big world. I am just hesitant to tell someone they don’t need heat and then they listen to me and something happens. I’d rather err on the side of caution.

You're right! AC! - I haven't used the AC here since we moved from Houston. I am used to have the house in the mid 80's and prefer to have all windows open so that the wind can blow through and cool me down.

I think they'll be just fine without a heat lamp.
I have some Khaki Campbell ducklings about a week in a half old and they won't sit under they're heat lamp anymore. I turn they're heat lamp off during the day, and turn it back on in the night. I'm thinking about not even using it in the night anymore because I really don't think they're using it.
It's always very worrying the first time you decide to stop using it, but always ends up being ok, at least from my experience.

I have an unrelated question. I posted this picture on another social media site and everyone is saying my duck doesn't stand like a pekins. It was bought at a tractor supply store and is suppose to be a pekins but now I'm not sure.. I have two that stand identical. I might also add they are still babies. Only 5 weeks old. What are your thoughts

My other one in the back of that pic has an orange beak. I guess it doesn't really matter. Now do white layers get as big as a pekin?

Generally no they are not..

Is it possible they are white khaki Campbell's? All i know is my last duck which is my profile pic wad obviously not a pekin either. As I said it doesn't matter cause they are my babies and I love them but it would be nice to know what I have.
