Heat source in brooder

My quail should be hatching this weekend. I am setting up the brooder now but have a quick question. For my chickens - I used a heat plate rather than heat lamp; could I use the heat plate for the quail as well? Or would it be better to use a heat lamp? Thanks!

I'd use the heat plate if you can lower it enough for newly hatched quail.
I know a Premier 1 plate can be lowered that far.
