Hi there,

Hi there, my name is Shanti and I am an avid bird lover from chickens to ducks, doves, hummingbirds and everything in between. I am currently in the west and I have a family of hummingbirds along with other but I just came here for answers regarding what someone can do if a neighbor intentionally poisons your feed and water for your animals. My hummingbirds I suspect were poisoned by a neighbor who was a bit envious of the birds that would come to my home to feed daily and minutely. They moved in next door and copied my feeder set up. Very bizarre and my birds were not going to her home. Suddenly I can't find one bird at all, I suspect the nectar was poisoned. I've had this same family of birds for many years and now not one is seen... I'm currently getting camera's to set up to catch her. She does suffer from PSTD which she displays on her vehicle. But she's been gloating for a month etc over my birds not going to her home. Any suggestions would be great, or if you have had anyone try to poison your feed or watering, I'd love to hear how you handled it. Thanks so much, and its nice to meet everyone here.

Maybe it's late enough in the season for them to have moved on. If you found some dead hummers maybe you could bring them to animal control and see if they could tell if they were poisoned.
Oh thank you, good idea. Well just the day before I had 7 of them

Thanks so much, good idea. They didn't leave yet, actually here, they are around all year round, only a few leave, I have a family that is here the entire year and yesterday, like all days, we have them in view right in front of our window. We had about 7 to 8 flying all around our feeder all day, then suddenly it was a ghost town today. There's more to what happened with the neighbor but she has done some things to make a few of us think she may have done this. I am going to see if I can find one or more of their bodies. Thank you though, that's a good idea.

Oh, how unspeakably horrible! I have hummers that visit frequently and dive bomb each other for feeder rights... so I have to have two. They stick around all winter and I leave a feeder out on a diy heater so it never freezes. I love those little birdies... I don't know how anyone could think of harming them.

Hummingbirds are very territorial, and if that lady just recently put out a feeder -that the birds didn't use, it's because it takes a long time for wild birds to trust a new food source. She should have been patient.

Did you test your own feeder or save any contents to make sure? She just as easily could have poisoned her own and they finally just visited it. Or maybe a flock of predatory birds came by and the hummers just relocated temporarily. Hard to say without a dead body... but it is very strange to have them disappear so suddenly. Cameras are a good idea.

I hope you can figure out what happened.
Good luck and
