HELP- bill injury

Hello everyone, came home to do evening chores and found my Indian runner Drake looking like this, is this survivable and what should I do? Bottom bill is like hanging off. I'm devastated.

It may not be fatal. I would carefully clean it with saline solution, isolate him, and add triple antibiotic (without painkiller). I also wouldn’t recommend using substrate that would stick to his beak. @Jenbirdee can help more. I hope he gets better!

Ducks are amazing at healing from injuries. I’ve seen ducks and geese heal from similar bill injuries so have hope! @ruthhope @HollowOfWisps will be more helpful than me here , I haven’t had that kind of injury in my flock, but I’ve seen pictures and read other threads with them. I’ll look for some of those threads and paste them here when I come back.

Thanks so much!! It looks better this morning, still not good but bleeding has stopped. He's living in the laundry room for now and his girlfriends and Drake pal have been separated from our pigs who I think may be the culprit I am so appreciative of the advice

Bill injuries like that usually happen when the duck is sticking their head in something with a sharp edge. I would check the area for blood on corners and wires before blaming the pigs lol. Good luck, this should heal pretty well.

I saw the ducks pick on the pig once, so I am making an inference there lol thanks for the reply and I will do that

Never had pigs so I probably can’t speak on how feisty they might be lol.
