This is Margaret. Or so I hope! She is the only one of our girls that is making me worry she might not be. I have read that boys have way more white than girls. And that their feet don’t have as much dark on them.

She is overall a little lighter in color, but I think still more black than white. And her feet have the least amount of dark on them compared to our other girls. It could be she’s just a girl with slightly lighter coloring… so I’m hoping someone more knowledgeable can weigh in!

She is approximately 5.5 weeks old.

She is the one in the right in the below photos. A girl with darker legs and overall darker appearance feathers in on the left for comparison.

All of their combs are about the same size and same color - just starting to turn pink on the edges.

All of our chicks had white patches on their heads when we got them as day-olds. 😳
I found this info that actually says, despite my thinking this ENTIRE TIME😅, that all barred birds will have white on their heads, but only if they are sex-linked only the males have spots I think? Sorry for the confusion.

In Plymouth Barred Rocks, both cockerels and pullets will have white spots on the head but usually the pullets have a smaller more precise white spot while the males will have the white mark more spread out or larger.

Edited to add: I agree that these little ones look like pullets.
