Hi,
I have a hen (cendre) who had a partial moult in November. This was her first moult. It seemed to knock her for six and she hasn’t laid since October.
I noticed today that she was wheezing so picked her up and had a look in her mouth. All looked fine. She hasn’t been sneezing, coughing or showing any signs of a cold.
Her skin is healthy white as it should be, there are no signs of fleas, ticks or any other nasties.
Her eyes are clear and her poop is normal (I think but I have 10 hens so šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø)
All other hens seem fine.
Anyway, I found a lump in her esophagus, about the size of a marble (1.5cm/half an inch diameter). It was solid but kind of movable like it was hanging by a cord from the side.
I was planning to give her some olive oil internally and massage it to see if that helps incase she has eaten something that has got stuck.
At the moment she is eating and drinking ok,
Thanks for your help
Hugz

Can you describe in more detail the white lesions on Buffy's mouth roof? Are they raised, flat, or ulcerated?
They’re not lesions, it’s just that the top of the mouth is all white unlike the black that is shown online. I suspect that the black is dependent upon the skin colour, and Buffys skin is white.
I’m talking about the choanal slit ( šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø) if that helps 🤪

This can be fatal if a marble that size gets down into the digestive track as it's likely too large to pass though the gizzard. She would die of starvation with it clogging the digestive tract.

You've got two options as I see it. One is to try to work it back up and out of the esophagus. The second is to encourage it down into the crop and then do crop surgery to remove it.

Raw egg white is slimier than oil, so if you want to lube it, use the raw egg white.
