We'll I don't off hand because of the serious flooding in my area. It has been a living nightmare for me today. The windows were installed correctly (I'm assuming) so the whole inside was getting damp and since they built it on a slaint the water is getting in the bottom. I am rushing to put out a fresh layer of shaving for them to keep warm. Once it gets warmer and everything is chaotic I will have some. But my set up is simple. I cut out the Window for ventilation. Put 3 nesting boxes on too of bricks for my 6 hens. And hang the food from the beam on too. And have a water on 2 huge bricks. I don't have a roost because I found it impossible to install and my chickens never seemed keen on it and like to sleep in the nesting box

Thanks, Brian...sorry to hear about all the rain in your area...eek! After reading your post I thought I'd put my 2 cents in...allowing your chickens to sleep in the nesting boxes really isn't the best idea. Even if all you do is provide a single 2x4 on it's side, higher than the level of the nesting boxes, that should do it. Are they laying yet?

Yes they are laying. When I had a roosting bar which I forgot to add I put a log on top of 2 cement blocks and they never went on it. That's why they like to sleep in the nesting box

Wow! What a nice setup you have on the interior...love it! I pinned that pic of your roost with the two 'cages' below. I'd like to do that for if I ever have a broodie or a sick hen...is that what you use them for? Thanks again!!

I think they didn't want to use it because it was so low to the ground. Chickens like to be up high...real high! :)

Yes we use the under the poop try cage for Broodie hens or new young pullets. usually a week or two helps with there introduction into the flock. Our shed is bigger but is of the same type of construction as yours, Probably same mfg.

Was it difficult to cut out the pop hole through that material? I'm curious...would like to know what I'm in for!!

Also was everything you built for inside the coop "free-standing"? In other words were you able to "connect" it somehow to the walls??

Thanks for your help...appreciate it!!
