Hi all,

Yesterday I noticed one of my ducks extending her neck and almost looking as if she were yawning, today I’ve noticed 4 of my ducks doing it on occasion and I’ve noticed a few little snicks and coughs, could it be gapeworm and is it transmittable from bird to bird? Or could it be something else, I’m over here worrying like crazy. Please let me know what you think

It’s really hard for us to diagnose if this could be gape worm but if your worried you can treat them.
Some people are saying it’s just them adjusting their crop but surely all of them wouldn’t be doing it? Is it possible to all have gapeworm at the same time too? Are you able to use flubenvet for possible gapeworm? I will try and get a video later on

Yes you can use flubenvet.

I do see my ducks extending their necks once in a while after eating
Do you know what the dosage would be for a duck at all please? Do you think it could be a respiratory infection or even just a cold? It wouldn’t do them any harm would it to worm them just in case as they’re shaking their heads side to side. Is there any sort of beneficial drinks I could give them? I’ve seen something around raw garlic.. and I have VetRx that I’m using. Just concerned!!

I will try and get one tomorrow as it’s dark now. It’s not rattling it’s more of just occasional little snicks and sneezes and one has a whistling sound through her nares but I see absolutely no discharge from any of them. I’ve gave them some garlic and apple cider vinegar now and I’ll also make sure I get some oregano. Thank you for the thread, I got an email from a website that sells flubenvet they said it isn’t certified for ducks but I’m assuming it’s safe to use?

Here we are, brought them in for a bath. Unfortunately can not time it right for the little snicks and sneezes they are doing but a lot of head shaking, even when they aren’t preening themselves. I’ll try my best to get a video of the sneezing and such. They seem to ruffle their feathers up a fair bit too with a shake then back to normal
