Help Sexing 8 1/2 Week Ameraucana Chicks

#1& 3 look like cockerels to me, 4&5 pullets. #2 is a little harder but at this point I’d guess puller also. You can see a little difference in the color and size of their combs. The 1&3 seem slightly larger and brighter.
I’m thinking the same thing. For sure, 1, 3 and maybe 2 are beginning to look like cockerels.

I'm hoping OP is ok with me adding a couple pictures of my 7.5 week old Ameracauna. I was told Wheaten but I'm not sure. And the darker comb makes me wonder if it's a cockerel.

Good morning bump🌞anyone have thoughts about the gender yet? Thanks!!
Good morning! Your beautiful bird here is lavender (self blue) and not wheaten.😊
Looks like a pullet so far. Ameraucana’s pea combs can be a bit tricky. The lighter colored birds such as lavender, white and splash tend to have pinker combs, both male and female, in my experience. This bird is still young though so this can change in the next several weeks. If the comb does not become obvious, then you will have to wait until saddle feathers appear. This happens usually after 12 weeks, but may be a few weeks later.😊

Thank you! What does "self blue" mean?

You are welcome! :)
Self blue is the proper name for lavender colored birds. Unfortunately it does cause confusion, as self blue and blue are two different colors, genetically.
Interesting 🤓 I was really worried about the red comb but I'm happy to know I can still hold on to hope. I'd love to add one to my flock. Every single Cream Legbar that hatched was a cockerel.

Out of curiosity, IF it was a cockerel, would a cross between him and a brown layer create an EE? Or how about a cream legbar over brown eggs? I am not really interested in keeping a full sized rooster but a friend is looking for one. She sells eggs and wants another one from my hatch. And you know, the more colors the better the eggs, right?? 😂

Yes, I love a colorful egg basket!😊
Yes, you can create EE and OE (olive eggers) by using Legbar or Ameraucana as your blue egg gened bird. Either one of these over a brown egg layer will give you a green egg layer. Shade of green depends on the genetics of the brown egg layer mostly. Crossing with a very dark brown egg layer like a Marans or Welsummer will give you an OE.
