Thousands of little gray bugs are crawling everywhere all over the ground around the coop and run and even around the surrounding area. They kind I look like aphids thy are that small. They are in the food and water and running around. I seethes in te day but not as much as tonight when I went to close the run!!!
What are they? How do I rid them? I am scared for my girls. They don't seem lethargic or anything! What do I do?

I looked up seven dust and it's says not to use around pets or children?

I saw mana pro for poultry and you spray it directly on them and it's safe around them? Does anyone have experience with the mana pro? I also saw a dust powder for poultry but basically it's DE. Maybe I can use the DE under the sand and on the ground around the coop to prevent. I am so freaked out right now :///////

Many will claim DE works, while most of us will tell you it doesn't, especially if you've got that bad of a problem. Dust the chickens, and the coop in Sevin Dust. Don't go nuts in the coop with it, just lightly dust it. It helps too, to dust outside around the coop, like a barrier to keep bugs out of the coop, and run. Be sure to dust the roosts, and nests, then put fresh nesting material in. Repeat in 10 days. There are several things that have warnings, but have been used for many years without incident on poultry.

I think I have them too, are they harmful to the chickens? We have had a ton of rain and I think it is from all the moisture. I used DE and bleached the coop yesterday but found some today too, Do I need to be worried for my birds?
